Read Aloud

Dooze reads text back to you. Emails, articles, documents, anything you capture or paste.

How it works

Capture text with Cmd+C or text selection. Then click Voice on the launcher to open the Read Aloud player. Dooze starts speaking immediately.

Voices

On the Free plan, Dooze uses Apple's built-in text-to-speech voices. These run entirely on your device.

On Lite and Heavy, you get access to natural-sounding cloud voices powered by xAI. These sound more conversational and expressive. Cloud voices require an internet connection and use your AI credits.

You can choose your preferred voice in the mini player's voice picker.

Gist mode

Sometimes you do not need the whole thing. Enable smart rewriting and Dooze summarizes the content first, then reads the summary. Good for long emails or dense articles when you are short on time.

Text polish

On Lite and Heavy, Dooze can polish text before reading it, cleaning up formatting artifacts, fixing grammar, and smoothing rough phrasing. The polished version is what gets read. You can copy it afterward.

URLs

Paste a URL into the input field. Dooze extracts the article content from the page and reads it. Works with news articles, blogs, Wikipedia, Substack, and most static HTML pages.

Mini player

While Dooze is reading, a mini player shows elapsed time, a scrub bar, skip controls (±10s), and speed cycling (1x through 2x). You can keep working in other apps while it reads.

If you copy new text while audio is playing, it queues as "Up next" instead of interrupting.
